My boyfriend and I have now rented this cottage twice, both times in February for a winter weekend getaway. We have fallen in love with the place and eagerly count down the weeks until we get to go again. It's perfect for a romantic weekend where all you want to do is get away from the noise and bustle of the city to snuggle up by the crackling fire, read for hours, play board games, and cook delicious food over a bottle (or two) of wine. Matthias also left us snowshoes for us to go tromping around through the woods and around the lake for an outdoor adventure. He was a pleasure to interact with , answered emails promptly, and sent us the keys well in advance.

More specifics: It is a bit of a drive from Montreal (at least 3 hours depending on construction and traffic), but completely worth it because no one else is out there. The water does smell/taste a little sulphur-y so you may want to bring your own for drinking if you're picky. He provides oodles of firewood, and there is a convenient grocery store and SAQ about 20-30 minutes from the cottage where we pick up all our food for the weekend.

Overall, I cannot recommend this place enough!! Affordable, cozy, relaxing - what more could you want.
