Tranquil retreat with unspoiled views

Located only 90 minutes from downtown Ottawa and 75 minutes from Ottawa's whitewater region, this cottage is situated on a peninsula in Lac Mecham (Thorne/Ladysmith). The main view from the front of the cottage looks west to an unspoiled scene of natural beauty where the lake flows into the Quyon River. Beavers, otters, eagles, loons, deer and herons are often seen in the area.

The cottage itself is nicely crafted and very comfortable. The kitchen has an island is a great place for preparing a cottage meal. There is a flat-screen TV with satellite TV service mounted on a swivel stand that allows for viewing from the den, dining area or kitchen.

The front of the cottage has a screened in porch for a more comfortable environment when the bugs are out. A propane BBQ is also available.

There is a dock with a small aluminum boat and three kayaks available for use. The lake is a pleasant lake to explore and offers excellent bass and pike fishing with the occasional trophy trout. Two adult and two child life jackets are provided. There is a small boat launch available for small boats, which is also a good spot for wading and snorkeling.

Enjoy your evenings outside by the "Iron Wheel", an outdoor lounge area with a double fire pit and a large, sturdy picnic table. There's plenty of firewood to keep you warm.

Please note that the water near the shoreline is shallow and not ideal for swimming.

One or two pets are welcome but are not permitted to sleep on the beds or sofas without covers or blankets.
