The house can be rented as either a 5 or 10 bedroom house, depending on need. 32-day minimum rental (to comply with local rules). During our peak season, the maximum rates are $400/ night; low season is $200. Both are negotiable for longer stays (ie season).
Fantastic to share with a group of friends or multigenerational family. It easily fits four plus families. The four major ski areas, Owls Head, Bromont, Orford and Sutton, are all about 20 minutes to half a hour away. Jay Peak across the border is about 45 minutes. The famous Spa Bolton is just a five minute drive -- or healthy 3.5 kilometre walk! https://www.spabolton.com We are surrounded by forest, which extends many miles even beyond our borders.
Glenmere is a unique Victorian villa with 95+ acres, a heart-shaped private lake shared with two other houses, a private tennis court, and "Mitten Pond." Located in the heart of ski, golf and cycling country, Glenmere also benefits from proximity to Knowlton, one of the prettiest of the Eastern Townships with plenty of cafes and shops.
The house comprises of
5 spacious bedrooms (many of them ensuite); can be increased to 10 bedrooms a Great Room with beautiful pool table 2 further sitting rooms country kitchen and dining area 2 large covered decks, one upstairs one downstairs (not yet photographed) amazing views over lake
Most bedrooms have king-sized beds, many with ensuite facilities. Several bedrooms can accommodate a family of four, either with an extra double bed in the room or with interconnected rooms. Glenmere has a wood-panelled Great Room with an electric fireplace, piano and views to the lake. There is a further cosy library as well as large TV room. The eat-in country kitchen faces "Mitten Pond." Glenmere enjoys a private tennis court as well as a sturdy dock, where you can dive off, fish or just sit and enjoy the view. For the more intrepid, we have also carved out lovely paths around the lake. "Jane's Loop," named after the former Glenmere matriarch, is suitable for most walkers.
Snowshoeing is absolutely magical. No need to get in a car and drive anywhere -- it's right outside the door. Guests are warned, however, to prepare well before setting out and understand your limits. It is a very LARGE area. Beyond our extensive private land, the forest extends for many, many miles, with steep climbs and descents.
Glenmere was the summer home of George Harold Baker, a lawyer and politician who was the only MP in Canada to be killed in action. A bronze statue of Baker stands in the lobby of the House of Commons, commemorating his actions in WWI. Glenmere is also the final resting place of Baker's horse Morning Glory, Canada's very own "War Horse." A plaque remains in the back of the house. For those who wish to know more about Colonel Baker or Morning Glory, please get in touch and I can provide more information.
Glenmere is located between Glen Mountain and Mont Gauvin. Baker Pond is in front. Downtown Montreal is about an hour's drive while the Montreal-Pierre Trudeau International Airport is about 1.5 hours in normal traffic.
While you may not want to leave our beautiful property, there are many fantastic activities very close by, in all seasons and for all age groups. A well stocked supermarket, cute cafes and stores are just a 10 minute drive into Knowlton/Lac Brome. Check out the Eastern Township's website, as well as Knowlton's own tourist site and town of Ville de Lac Brome, to see what's happening during your intended stay. I have put together a small guidebook and welcome all suggestions.
In winter, ice skating and sliding are possible in town and for apres ski relaxation, Spa Bolton is five minutes away. Spa Eastman is a 20 minute drive. In the warmer months, the hills host a number of summer activities including golfing, alpine hikes and exhilarating mountain biking and zip lining. Cycling routes and bike paths are well marked and well loved. Bromont has a popular water park while Lac Brome has a marina and Douglas Beach. Paddle boarding at the Knowlton Marina is available.
Apart from sports, the area offers a variety of activities: from wine tasting at the many beautiful vineyards, to tours of the Abbeye Saint-Benoît-du-Lac. Lavender, elderberry and even an alpaca farm welcomes visitors. Artists will enjoy the "Tour des Art"; antique hunters will find plenty to see and buy. For fans of suspense author Louise Penny there are "Three Pines" tours and a lovely bookstore in town.
The community of Bolton Est, just at the bottom of the road, also hosts an increasingly popular and ever expanding farmers' market on Saturdays (during the warmer months), often with live music and delicious hot food and drinks.
Baker Pond has featured on many websites and magazines because of its heart shape.

Four ski hills are within half an hour drive and Jay Peak is just over the border. Snowshoeing and hiking from right outside the door for hours and miles! In fact, the area is so large that we recommend guests be very well prepared. There are also gentle walks in the woods on trails that we have cut. The lake is amazing to swim in. Please note that the house is not child proofed and there are several water hazards near the house. This is an old, well-loved house -- it's about as old as Canada. + VIEW MORE - COLLAPSE Other Town/Lake/Area: | Bolton Est |
