Chalet Rose-et-Lys is a unique and modern cottage. This is the designer decorated, model home that was on display in the stadium in Montreal for the 2009 salon de l'habitation, and was also featured in La Presse. It is now sitting about 1.5 hours north of Ottawa on beautiful Roddick lake near Bouchette, QC. The cottage has three bedrooms, a living dining area with 8 foot patio doors and a truly incredible view. The kitchen and bathroom are exceptional, the modern kitchen well supplied with ceramic cooktop, oven, microwave, coffee machine, all the pots and pans you need and even a bread maker. The bathroom with 12 foot ceiling, a double sink with waterfall taps has a huge shower with rain shower head and lots of room for two. You can dine inside or on the deck with its tempered glass railing. I feed the birds all winter and the hummingbirds in the summer so the view is constantly interesting. The cottage sleeps 6 maximum. All bed and bathroom linens are provided so you don't have to worry about making up beds when you arrive. I just ask that you bring your own beach towels (and spa towels for the hot tub in the winter). The master bedroom has a king size bed, and 8 foot patio door onto the deck. Open the window to hear the loons at night. The second bedroom has a queen size bed. In the downstairs bedroom there is a pull out double couch and a single bed. I can also provide a baby crib. The cottage is super-insulated, and warm and comfortable inside during the winter. There is an electric woodstove to provide a warm and cozy atmosphere inside. In the summer you can turn on the air conditioner if it gets too warm inside. Outside you can use the firebowl for your campfire for roasting marshmallows. For your lakeside activities: You can take the canoe out for a paddle, the paddle boat or the kayak (one person). If you want to fish then take the aluminum fishing boat with electric motor. The swimming is excellent, with walk in access or just climbing off the end of the dock. The cottage faces west so the sun shines all afternoon and you can sit on the swing down by water to view the sunset. If you take the boat or canoe to the hiking trail (a 15 minute paddle) you can hike up to the belvedere which will give you a magnificent view of the lake, and then continue on to the next lake if you wish.
Roddick lake is an exceptionally beautiful lake, great for kayaking, canoeing, fishing and boating. In the winter the lake is great for ice fishing, skidoo, skating and snowshoeing. The area is exceptional with many activities for families. See my website for more details. Our favourite, the deer sanctuary that raises orphaned deer, if you are lucky you can feed them with a bottle.
Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway, a honeymoon, or a family vacation this cottage is perfect.

| We had a wonderful week at this chalet late in the summer. While things were getting cool, we still got some swimming in and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine. Among the highlights were evenings watching the sun set from the lower grassy area, a lot of time on the excellent deck, watching the hummingbirds and the much bigger birds soaring far above. That view is so memorable and the lake so peaceful. We enjoyed the comforts of the chalet, such as the excellent air circulation system and BBQing on the deck. We hope to be back in 2021.

| I rented this place based on the pictures shown of the outdoor space. It looks like there's lots of grass and clear sand around the water area to play. We got there and it was all grown and full of trees. The swing is also not by the water anymore as there's no more room, it's by the fire pit.... The pictures are not accurate of the outdoor space! Therefore my vacation wasn't pleasant as I have a one year old and we were cramped in the small cottage. Also it isn't a 3 bedroom as indicated it's a 2 bedroom! We were also given very little fire wood and it was half burnt it was quite strange. They offered to bring more but at this point we were over it.
We enjoyed family quality time as for the first year of my sons life my husband has been working 6 days a week, but we could of saved a lot of money and just stayed home.

Owner response: While the amount of exposed sand area at the beach does vary in the season due to changing water levels of the lake, the sandy area between the bottom of the stairs and the beach visible in the image is still the same. The sloped area between the top and bottom of the stairs has been allowed to re-vegetate in accordance with the new provincial law for the protection of the shoreline and environmental quality and also to help better anchor the soil so as to help prevent soil erosion and land slump. We will update the images on the site at the next opportunity. The grassy area at the top of the stairs near the cottage is mowed and available for children to play on. The chairs and swing can be moved around according to each guest's needs. The area for the swing at the bottom of the stairs is still available for use. The third bedroom is downstairs, and has a pull-out sofa bed. All three bedrooms have been reviewed by the provincial tourism agency (CITQ). | |
