The Lake House, Lac Brome After a major upgrade in 2022, we are now taking bookings for a week or more, including the winter ski season, with access to four ski hills within half an hour and skating, snow-shoeing or cross country skiing on the Lake. Very few local rentals can offer short-term bookings, but as fully CITQ accredited since 2016 we are exempt from new rules clamping down on rentals of less than a month. The views across Lac Brome are extraordinary with a dock and 70 foot of waterfront. You can now enjoy a new wooden deck and balcony for outside living at its finest, with frameless glass fencing offering you stunning views across the Lake. Both bathrooms have been completely modernised and the kitchen has been updated with freshly painted units, new appliances and modem lighting. The house also benefits from the best possible internet speeds, with 1GB cable connection, making it easy to work and play on the Lake. Lac Brome offers a perfect getaway location during all four seasons of the year. In the winter you can skate on the lake, snow shoe and ski on local cross country tracks, as well as enjoy four ski resorts with scenic downhill runs all within 30 minutes drive. In fall, the landscape and colours are amongst the best in North America. In spring, the birds return to the Lake and in Summer enjoy life on the water, paddling from your own private access to the Lake, swimming from the dock, as well as kayaking or rowing out on the lake. If you prefer, our private lakeside swimming pool is the perfect place to cool down on a hot summers day, including a waterslide for children and adults alike! The lake house also offers a large gas BBQ for outdoor cooking and dining. All year round you are just a 5-minute drive from Knowlton, where you can enjoy the picturesque Victorian architecture and boutique shops and cafes of one of the most beautiful towns in the Eastern Townships as well as enjoy the marina and picnicking at Douglass beach. Local places to eat
There are plenty of good places to eat in Knowlton. Buzz is an excellent deli/café in the middle of town next to the bakers. Right in the middle of town is Le Relais and further out of town is the micro-brewery with great beer, pizzas and burgers. Outside Knowlton there is a wide range of places to eat. Just a couple of minutes drive away is an Indian Restaurant, Chez moi, chez toi, or further round the Lake, try the Auberge du Joli Vent.
Local Ski Resorts
The Lakehouse is close to four excellent downhill ski resorts. Ski Bromont is just 15 minutes drive and it specialises in night skiing with lots of runs open until 22:30. Bromont is a great place for restaurants, micro-breweries and shopping. Mount Sutton is 30 minutes away and is an excellent place for skiing in winter and hiking in summer, while Sutton is a pretty town for shopping or eating and has many festival. Owls Head is a 30 minute drive and has a stunning setting above Lake Memphremagog. Mount Orford is also a 30 minute drive.
There are also plenty of cross country ski trails. Many of the paths around Knowlton welcome cross country skiing and many of the golf courses have cross country ski tracks.
Golf Courses
There are four excellent golf course all within a 20-minute drive, including Club Lac Brome, Bromont Golf Course, Inverness Golf Course and Club De Golf De Waterloo.
What is so special about the Lake House
This property is all about the water. It feels as if you are perched over the Lake and the house is designed to let in as much light as possible. The back of the house is like a wall of glass so that the main living areas double up as viewing platforms. It is easy to spend hours watching the way the light changes during the day. In winter the lake ices over and becomes an oversized skating rink. During the rest of the year there is an array of wild birds, especially the ducks and geese. And in Autumn sit back and enjoy the reds and yellows as the trees change colour.
At the same time, Knowlton, just 5 minutes drive away, is a fabulous local town. Small enough to have a real sense of community; large enough to have festivals and events throughout the year. There are banks and ATMs alongside a wide range of restaurants and delis. There is also lots of opportunity for browsing in local shops specialising in antiques or run by local artists and artisans (have a look at the glass blowing at Boutiverre who custom designed much of our lighting), as well as an an excellent bookshop. And if you can't find anything, just go to the Home Hardware Store, which stocks, well, everything, as well as bringing in stunning pastries on a Thursday morning, and deliveries of bagels from Montreal's St Viatur on Saturdays.
It also offers easy access to one of the best cities in North America. Downtown Montreal is just 1 hour and 15 minutes drive away, with diverse communities and districts, and you can hire bixies (ride-away bicycles) on any street corner in a city designed for bikes, with endless paths along the waterfronts and even on to the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, the venue for the Canadian grand prix every year in mid June. It has its own mountain at its heart, a passion for ice hockey (Go Habs Go), an Olympic Stadium and the Montreal Impact MLS soccer team, a number of excellent micro-breweries and markets (try Atwater Market on the Lachine Canal). And for children of all ages - just head for La Ronde Amusement Park on Ile Sainte-Helene. And it specialises in festivals - including comedy, jazz and film - attracting people from around the world.

| We very much enjoyed our summer weekend at the Lake House. It's a beautiful, very clean and comfortable house with a perfect location on the lake. The surrounding area is beautiful as well, immensely green in summer, perfect to enjoy nature.

| We stayed at "The Lakehouse" 3 days in March and I must say that is was truly beautiful. I don't usually leave reviews (Often just by sheer laziness, I must agree) so for me to review this place means it was quite something. The views from the living room are spectacular, the house was spacious, luxurious, yet had this "chalet" feeling that was perfect for our romantic getaway. It was my first time in Knowlton and I must say, it lives up to its reputation! Such a jewel to discover! Cute, with lots of adorable little shops and very friendly people. If you want to spend hours reading in the sun while looking at the lake in the living room, playing board games by the fire in the evenings and throw in some skiing and some shopping in town, this is a great place for you! We even found a trail for snowshoeing and cross country skiing in the village! We will be back for sure! Plus the Lakehouse has an amazing pool and quay for the summer months, which I am dying to try! You can't go wrong on this place!
